Bolingbrook, village, Will and DuPage counties, northeastern Illinois, on the East Branch of the DuPage River; incorporated 1965. It is largely residential; however, industrial parks built in the late 1980s increased its importance as a distribution and commercial center. A junior college is here. The village is named either for Bolingbroke, England, or for the British noble family of Bolingbroke. Population 37,261 (1980); 40,843 (1990); 56,321 (2000).
