Sun Valley, city, Blaine County, south central Idaho, on the Big Wood River; incorporated 1947. Picturesquely situated at about 1830 m (about 6000 ft), it is a year-round resort, originally developed in 1936 by the Union Pacific Railroad. The American writer Ernest Hemingway lived nearby and his grave is here. Population 545 (1980); 938 (1990); 1,427 (2000).
