Kaneohe, community, Honolulu County, Hawaii, on the southeastern coast of Oahu Island, extending from the foothills of the Koolau Range to Kaneohe Bay. It is chiefly residential. Of interest is Byodo-In Temple, a reproduction of an old Buddhist temple near Kyoto, Japan. Hawaii Loa College (1963) and a community college are here. A U.S. Marine Corps air station is nearby. Population 29,919 (1980); 35,448 (1990); 34,970 (2000).
