Winter Park, city, Orange County, central Florida, near Orlando; incorporated as a city 1925. The site of Rollins College (1885), it is also a retirement center, a winter resort (hence its name), and the focus of a citrus-growing area in which the Temple orange was developed. Several lakes, used for recreation, are within the city limits. The community was originally named Lakeview (1858), then Osceola (1870), and finally Winter Park (1881). Population 22,339 (1980); 22,242 (1990); 24,090 (2000).
