Sunrise, city, Broward County, southeastern Florida; incorporated 1971. It is a residential suburb of Fort Lauderdale situated between the Everglades and the Atlantic Ocean. The city was originally incorporated as Sunrise Golf Village in 1961. Population 39,681 (1980); 64,407 (1990); 85,779 (2000).
