Pinellas Park, city, Pinellas County, western Florida, near Saint Petersburg; incorporated as a city 1959. It is chiefly residential; manufactures include tools and dies, boats, clothing, and electronic equipment. The main growth of the community, founded (1909-10) as a sugarcane processing center, began after 1945. Its name refers to the pine trees that once abounded here. Population 32,811 (1980); 43,426 (1990); 45,658 (2000).
