North Miami, city, Miami-Dade County, southeastern Florida, on Biscayne Bay, near Miami; incorporated as a city 1952. It is a tourist center and has motion picture and recording studios. The North Miami Center of Contemporary Art is here. Incorporated as the town of Miami Shores in 1926, it was renamed North Miami four years later. It grew rapidly after World War II, especially after the Keystone Point area on the bay was developed.
