Largo, city, Pinellas County, western Florida, on Pinellas Peninsula and the Gulf of Mexico, near Saint Petersburg; incorporated 1925. Largo is a residential community and retail center with many high-technology and bio-medical manufacturers, including those producing telecommunications equipment and pharmaceuticals. Settled in the mid-19th century and developed as a citrus distribution and processing center, the community was named in the 1880s for nearby Lake Largo, which has since been drained.
