Milford, city, Kent and Sussex counties, eastern Delaware, on the Mispillion River; incorporated 1807. It is an industrial and distribution center. Manufactures include processed food, dental supplies, textiles, and chemical and rubber products. The Graduate Center (1989) of the University of Delaware is here. Settled about 1680, Milford grew as a shipping and shipbuilding center. Population 5,356 (1980); 6,040 (1990); 6,732 (2000).
