North Haven, town, New Haven County, southern Connecticut, on the Quinnipiac River, a suburb of New Haven; incorporated 1786. It is a residential and industrial community. Manufactures include aerospace equipment, machinery, firearms, chemicals, and surgical equipment. A junior college is here. Settled about 1650, it was separated from New Haven in 1786 and named for its location to the north of the city.
