Glastonbury, town, Hartford County, central Connecticut, on the Connecticut River, near Hartford; incorporated 1693. It is situated in a farming region, and some manufacturing industries are here. It has a number of fine homes dating from the 18th century. Settled in 1650 as part of Wethersfield, the community became a separate town in the 1690s and was named for Glastonbury, England.
