Englewood, city, Arapahoe County, north central Colorado, on the South Platte River, near Denver; incorporated 1903. Manufactures include precision instruments, metal goods, and processed food; carnations are grown commercially. Placer gold was discovered in the area in 1858. The city probably is named for Englewood (now part of Chicago), Illinois. Population 30,021 (1980); 29,387 (1990); 31,727 (2000).
