La Habra, city, Orange County, southwestern California, near Los Angeles; incorporated 1925. Refined petroleum, metal goods, and chemicals are manufactured. Productive citrus groves, avocado farms, and oilfields are in the area. The city was platted in the 1890s. Its name, taken from the Spanish abra for “opening,” refers to a pass through nearby mountains.
