Inglewood, city in Los Angeles County, located in the Los Angeles metropolitan region of southwestern California. It is a residential and retail community. Los Angeles International Airport is nearby. The city is the site of Hollywood Park, a racetrack for Thoroughbred horses, and The Great Western Forum, a major sports and entertainment arena and home of the Los Angeles Lakers professional basketball team and the Los Angeles Kings professional ice hockey team.
While the first settlement was in 1873, the layout of the community was done in 1887 by the Centinela-Inglewood Land Company. Inglewood incorporated as a city in 1908.
