Huntington Beach, city in Orange County, southwestern California. The city is located on the Pacific Ocean southeast of Long Beach, in the huge metropolitan expanse of the Los Angeles Basin. It is a commercial, industrial, and recreational center. Important economic activities include business and financial services, aerospace and other high-technology manufacturing, computer hardware and software development, and petroleum and support industries.
A junior college, the Huntington Beach Art Center, and Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve are located in the city as are extensive ocean beaches and a rebuilt pier. Huntington Beach is home to several annual events, including the Women's Pro Volleyball national championship tournament and the Concours d'Elegance, showcasing classic automobiles. The city, nicknamed “Surf City,” has the International Surfing Museum and Surfing Walk of Fame.
