Gardena, city, Los Angeles County, southwestern California, in the Gardena Valley, near Los Angeles; incorporated 1930. Motor-vehicle parts, aluminum products, and electronic equipment are manufactured here. The community, settled in the mid-19th century, was named by an early resident who considered the region a beautiful garden spot. Population 45,165 (1980); 49,847 (1990); 57,746 (2000).
