Campbell, city, Santa Clara County, western California; incorporated 1952. Although chiefly residential, Campbell has some small-scale manufacturing, including the production of electronic equipment and commercial flowers. In 1846, the city was founded by Benjamin Campbell and was a major fruit processing center until the 1960s. Population 27,067 (1980); 36,048 (1990); 38,138 (2000).
