Camarillo, city, Ventura County, southwestern California; incorporated 1964. It is the processing and shipping center of a diversified farming area. Electronic and aerospace equipment is manufactured. Saint John's College (1939) and California State University-Camarillo (1992) are here. Settled in the 1800s, the community is named for Juan Camarillo, a local landowner. Population 37,732 (1980); 52,303 (1990); 57,077 (2000).
