Baldwin Park, city in Los Angeles County, southern California, in the San Gabriel Valley. It is primarily a residential community for the nearby industrial centers of Irwindale and City of Industry, with some diversified light industry. In the mid-19th century the site that is now Baldwin Park was cattle-grazing land for the nearby San Gabriel Mission; it was settled by homesteaders about 1875. The community was established in 1906 by Elias J. Baldwin, a wealthy landowner for whom the town is named. It was incorporated as a city in 1956.
