Torreón, city, northern Mexico, in Coahuila State. The city, which is served by railroad, is in a rich agrarian region especially noted for the production of cotton and ranks among the chief industrial cities of northern Mexico. Among the manufacturing establishments in Torreón are flour mills, textile plants, iron foundries, a brewery, and a rubber factory. The city was founded in 1893. Population (1995) 508,076.
