Gómez Palacio, city, northern Mexico, in Durango State, on the western bank of the Nazas River, near Torreón. It is an important rail and trade center of the irrigated Laguna District, where livestock is raised and cotton, tropical fruits, grapes, sugarcane, grains, and tobacco are grown. The city has cotton-ginning and tanning industries, and manufactures here include wine and liquor, vegetable oil, flour, iron and steel, chemicals, agricultural equipment, explosives, and textiles.
