North Battleford, city in western Saskatchewan, Canada, at the confluence of the North Saskatchewan and Battle rivers, near the town of Battleford. North Battleford is a commercial and distribution center for the surrounding grain-producing and ranching area. Manufactures include forest products and construction materials. Nearby is Battleford National Historic Park, which includes buildings of an old Northwest Mounted Police post. The community was settled with the arrival of the railroad around 1905, after the original town (Battleford) was bypassed. North Battleford was incorporated in 1913. Population 14,876 (1986); 14,051 (1996).
