Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, also known as Saint-Jean, city in Saint-Jean County, southern Québec, Canada. Located on the Richelieu River southeast of Montréal, it is a distribution and industrial center. Principal manufactures include metal products, sewing machines, textiles, chemicals, and electrical equipment. The city is the site of the Campus Fort Saint-Jean, formerly the Royal Military College; a community college; and an Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada horticultural research center.
Attractions include the Musée régional du Haut-Richelieu (Upper Richelieu Regional Museum), cruises on the river, and Victorian architecture in the old town, where guided tours are available. Bicycle touring is a popular activity in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and the surrounding region. The city's municipal airport is the site each August of the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Hot-Air Balloon Festival.
