Saint-Hyacinthe, city in Saint-Hyacinthe County, southern Québec, Canada, on the Yamasaka River. It is a commercial and manufacturing center situated in an agricultural region, east of Montréal. Major manufactures include processed food, musical organs, furniture, plastic, and metal products. The agri-food technology industry is important to the city's economy. Saint-Hyacinthe is the site of research, religious, educational, and technology transfer institutions. It is home to the Institute of Agricultural Technology and the Université de Montréal's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Since 1993 the city has also been a member of the International Association of Science Parks.
Saint-Hyacinthe is home to one of the largest regional convention centers and hotel complexes in Québec. Attractions include the Daniel A. Séguin Horticultural Garden and a public market that was built over 100 years ago. Annual events include a regional agricultural fair, held at the end of July, and a retro-music festival, held in August.
