Vaughan, city in southern Ontario, Canada. It is part of York Regional Municipality, which is situated just north of Toronto. Vaughan grew from a rural to an urban area, and it became an extremely attractive location to businesses, including manufacturing and construction firms. Canada's two major railways, the Canadian National and Canadian Pacific railways, have freight shipping terminals in Vaughan. Toronto's Lester B. Pearson International Airport is located nearby.
Vaughan is home to the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, a public art gallery devoted solely to Canadian art. Among the artists represented are the Group of Seven, Canada's famous landscape painters, and contemporary Inuit and First Nations artists. Another major tourist attraction is Paramount Canada's Wonderland, a well-known theme park featuring rides and live shows.
