Stoney Creek, city in the Hamilton-Wentworth Regional Municipality, southeastern Ontario, Canada. It is adjacent to Hamilton, Ontario. Situated at the western end of Lake Ontario, Stoney Creek is a commercial center for the fruit-producing Niagara peninsula. Processed food, clothing, printed material, chemicals, microchips, and metal products are the major manufactures. Warehousing and transportation services are also important to the economy. The city is served by nearby John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport.
Attractions include the Battlefield House Museum and the Battlefield Monument in Battlefield Park; the museum and the monument commemorate the Battle of Stoney Creek, which took place during the War of 1812. The Erland Lee (Museum) Home is the former home of the founders of the Women's Institutes, a worldwide organization formed in 1897. The Battle of Stoney Creek reenactment, in which participants dress in period costume, is held in the first week of June. Other annual events include the Winona Peach Festival, held in August.
