Halton Hills, town in Halton Regional Municipality, southern Ontario, Canada. Located west of Toronto, Halton Hills is in an agricultural and quarrying region. The town has a diverse economy. Manufactures include paper products, electric wiring devices, leather goods, weather stripping, and microwave components. Attractions include the Olde Hide House, one of Canada's largest leather outlets; the Blue Springs Golf Club, home of the Canadian Professional Golf Association; and the Williams Mill Gallery, an artists' collective in a restored mill. Halton Hills is also home to the Bruce Trail, which winds along the Niagara Escarpment, an International Biosphere Reserve. Annual events include the Highland Games, held in June, and Montgomery Christmas, held in November at the former home of Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery.
In 1974 the towns of Acton and Georgetown merged with the township of Esquesing, creating Halton Hills. The residents of the town named it to reflect the topography of the area and its location in Halton Region.
