Maple Ridge, district municipality in southwestern British Columbia, Canada. Maple Ridge is nestled between the Coast Mountains to the north and the Fraser River to the south. The district is a fast-growing suburb located 37 km (23 mi) east of the city center of Vancouver. Maple Ridge's economy is based on the traditional industries of agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and mining. Also significant are the burgeoning retail and service sectors, which cater to Maple Ridge's growing residential population. Printing, plastics, boat building, metal fabrication, battery manufacturing, and agricultural operations—including berry growing, nurseries, and greenhouses—are important industries. Maple Ridge is served by Vancouver International Airport and Pitt Meadows Airport.
