Adapazari, city in northwestern Turkey, capital of Sakarya Province, on the Sakarya River, near Izmit. A road junction and rail-spur terminus, Adapazari is a trade center for a farming area in which tobacco, grains, and sugar beets are grown. Railroad and agricultural machinery are manufactured in the city, and iron, zinc, and copper are mined nearby.
