Review:A real Gem This is one of my all time favorite restaurants in the UK. I've eaten in most of the highly rated restaurants in the uk over the past 5 years and I am still impressed when I go back to Padrigs cooking. Haute Cusine with a welsh twist is how I normally describe it and, although this may raise eyebrows with some of you, you really should give it a go. A very well selected cellar with a delightful collection of wines from France and the New World. The menu is well constructed and you are never disappointed when the food arrives. Presentation is meticulous, without being pretentious, and flavours are masterfully combined to make this an all round gastronomic experience.

Cuisine: British Recommended Dishes:Fish/Shellfish is very good and imaginative Steak Review:A Little Pearl I have been going to this restaurant on and off for about 5 years now. Having eaten in most of the rated restaurants in the UK, and a few across europe, I must say that it genuinely compares very well. The menu has a very good selection of seasonal fare with fish being a particular speciality (Sewin being a personal favorite). Although the wine list lacks depth the cellar is generally well stocked with good French and New World favorites. Another attractive feature is the way in which the menu attempts, and generally suceeds, with adding a bit of Cymric flavour. Very reasonably priced with friendly staff its a nice place to go prior to an evening out in Cardiff. Benidictos Restaurant 4 Windsor Place - 029 20 371130 £15.01 - £30.00 Cuisine: Italian Recommended Dishes:Sea bass, pork. Review:Nice surroundings, perfect for a romantic meal. Benedicto's has a fairly expensive a la carte menu and the more affordable 'patron's menu.' The food is outstanding and the service is very friendly. My only criticism is the choice of the manager's background music.

Happy Gathering 233 Cowbridge Road East, Canton - 029 20 397531 £5.01 - £15.00 Cuisine: Chinese Review:Well, Reasonably Happy Large, first floor restaurant in shopping area of Canton. Very popular (particularly with Chinese community) but hard to see why. Ambience reminds me of a motorway service area! I strongly advise you to go elsewhere - try the Bozan in Roath.
