Grangemouth, city and seaport in the Central region of Scotland. Grangemouth is located 34 km (21 mi) west of Edinburgh, on the Firth of Forth. Founded about the time that the Forth and Clyde Canal was opened in 1789, Grangemouth was the scene of early experiments in steam navigation.
