Glamis, village in Scotland in the Tayside region of Great Britain. The village is home to the famous Glamis Castle, still inhabited by the earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne. The castle has inspired many legends. Scottish king Macbeth was Thane of Glamis, and popular folklore points to a room in the castle in which he supposedly murdered King Duncan in 1040. The castle's thick walls and small windows suggest its original military purpose during the 16th and 17th centuries.
The village of Glamis also has ancient carved monoliths, and a cross which is said to be the gravestone of King Malcolm, who was murdered in 1034.
