Lowestoft, town, in Waveney District, Suffolk, eastern England, on the North Sea. Lowestoft is the most easterly port in the United Kingdom. It is an important fishing center as well as a popular resort. The port handles timber, grain, and chemicals. Lowestoft was granted a weekly market in 1308. From 1757 to 1802 the celebrated white and blue Lowestoft china was produced here.
