Davos, town in eastern Switzerland, in Graubünden Canton, in the Rhaetian Alps. The town, comprising the villages of Davos Platz and Davos Dorf, is on the banks of the Davos, a stream that traverses the floor of Davos Valley. The valley, surrounded on all sides by towering peaks, has an elevation of more than 1524 m (5000 ft). The sheltered position of the valley and its dry, bracing air make the town an ideal year-round convalescent area for persons with pulmonary disorders.
