Wroclaw (German Breslau), city and port in southwestern Poland, the capital of Wroclaw Province, on the Odra (Oder) River. It is one of the largest cities of Poland in population, the major city in the Silesia historic region, and an important commercial, transportation, and industrial center. The Odra River, a major artery of trade, links the city with the Baltic Sea and with the Elbe-Wisla network of inland waterways.
