Piotrków Trybunalski (Russian Petrokov), city, central Poland, capital of Piotrków Trybunalski Province, near Lódz. It is a textile center and also has tanneries, flour mills, sawmills, and factories producing mining equipment, agricultural machinery, chemicals, bricks, and glass. The city was founded in the 12th century and still contains the ruins of a medieval castle built by King Kazimierz III. From 1815 to 1919, the city belonged to Russia.
