Drammen, city and seaport in southern Norway, situated where the Dramselva River enters Dramsfjorden (Drammens Fjord), near Oslo. It is the seat of Buskerud County. Drammen is a railroad junction and an export center for one of the most productive forest districts of Norway. Important industries are the processing of wood pulp, cellulose, and paper; the mining of zinc, nickel, and cobalt; shipbuilding; and salmon fishing. Population (1998) 53,680.
