Babylon (Zagara restorâns) Skâròu 10/20 - (+371) 721 10 26 Once a Greek restaurant, Babylon still serves up Hellenic favourites with plenty of fresh tzaziki. New additions include delicious Mediterranean and Mid-Eastern dishes and a rainbow-striped interior. The beautiful, whitewashed courtyard is like Santorini without the view. Cuisine: Mediterranean Review:Food and ambiance
Staburags Caka 55 - (+371) 29 97 87 If there were such a thing as a Latvian heaven, this place would come a close second. Feast on huge portions of traditional Latvian food in an immense labyrinth of oak furnished rooms and niches and wash it down with some of the country’s best beer. In case you’re curious, the ceramic jugs on each table are for bones, not flowers. Cuisine: Indigenous Recommended Dishes:Gray peas with bacon, ribs, pork leg Review:Great Value and Great Food I would visit this restaurant often if I lived here! The food was typical, very inexpensive, well prepared and interesting. Quite a varied menu, good beers, our waiter helped us select our main dishes...ribs for me and pork leg for my husband, gray peas with bacon, and potato pancakes. This restaurant is a must. (the minor irritation was a customer who was very intoxicated and would not leave us alone.)

Lielais kamielis - The Big Camel (~closed~) Vecpilsetas Str. 3 - (+371) 721 26 14 Review:Restaurant no longer exists Much to my dismay, The Big Camel ceased to exist more than one year ago. They maintain a web site and mislead people to the doors of the new Indian restaurant. We tried to call first, but there was not an answer. Review:Out of Business The Lielais Kamielis has been out of business for more than a year as of May, 2003.
