Several monuments from Lodi's past still stand. These include a cathedral built in the 12th century, a Gothic church begun in the 13th century, several palaces, and a fortress. In Old Lodi stands the church of San Bassiano, begun in the 4th century AD, rebuilt in the 13th century, and completed in the 14th century. Population (1997) 42,076.
