Leverkusen, city in western central Germany, a port on the Rhine River, near Cologne, in North Rhine-Westphalia (Nordrhein-Westfalen). Manufactures of this industrial center include chemicals, dyes, pharmaceuticals, machinery, electrical equipment, and textiles. Leverkusen is the site of the Morsbroich castle and museum.
