Pardubice, city in the central Czech Republic, located on the Elbe River (known in the Czech Republic as the Labe River). Products manufactured in the city include liquor, communications equipment, milling machinery, refined petroleum, and shoes. Pardubice is an important horse-breeding and racing center. One of the oldest cities in the Czech Republic, it has a 13th-century church and several well-preserved 16th-century buildings.
