Anderlecht, city in central Belgium, one of the 19 communes within metropolitan Brussels, in the province of Brabant, on the Charleroi Canal. Manufactures include textiles, chemicals, leather, paper, glass, and food products. Anderlecht is the site of the 15th-century Gothic church of Saint Pierre, which has an 11th-century crypt; and of the residence (1517-1521) of the Dutch humanist Desiderius Erasmus.
