Zacatecoluca, city in southern El Salvador, capital of La Paz Department, in the Lempa River valley. It is a commercial and manufacturing center situated in an agricultural region. Major products include textiles, baskets, and wood items. The city was badly damaged by an earthquake in 1932. Population (1992) 57,032.
