Aguadilla, town, in Aguadilla Municipality, northwestern Puerto Rico, a port on Mona Passage (linking the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea). It is a trade center for a region in which sugarcane, coffee, and tobacco are produced; straw hats and cigars are manufactured here. Aguadilla Regional College (1972) is in the city. Christopher Columbus is said to have visited the site of Aguadilla in 1493. The town was founded in 1775.
