Phitsanulok, town in north central Thailand, capital of Phitsanulok Province, on the Mae Nam Nan (Nan River). It is a commercial and transportation center served by road, railroad, and air routes. The old city is surrounded by a protective wall that dates from the 13th century. One of the temples here contains a noted 15th-century statue of the Buddha. Population (1992 estimate) 91,276.
