Seoul is the cultural and educational center of the country. More than 50 colleges and universities are located here, which is more than one-quarter of the institutions of higher learning in South Korea. The National Library of Korea, the country's largest library, is located in Seoul. There are many cinemas and theaters throughout the city, with a high concentration of motion-picture theaters in the Chongno area.
