Chinju, also Jinju, city in southern South Korea, in South Kyong-sang Province, on a tributary of the Naktong River, near Pusan. The city is a commercial center for an agricultural area producing rice, cotton, tobacco, and fruit. It is the site of the Chinju College of Agriculture (1953) and a college of education.
