Myingyan, town in central Myanmar (formerly known as Burma), in Mandalay Division, near the confluence of the Irrawaddy and Chindwin rivers. It is one of Myanmar's principal river ports, with rail connections south to Yangon (formerly known as Rangoon) and north to Mandalay. The ruins of Pagan, a capital of Myanmar in the 12th and 13th centuries, are nearby.
