Restaurant Lafite
Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur , 11 Jalan Sultan Ismail, 50250 Kuala Lumpur - 603.232 2388
Cuisine: French
Review: A Drop in Standards
Almost ten years ago it was the benchmark by which all other Western restaurants in Kuala Lumpur were rated. Today, lacklustre service and mediocre food make a mockery of its five-star prices and pretensions. The food was a faux-French blend of poorly-chosen ingredients that assaulted the palate. And the immaculately bow-tied waiters seemed inexperienced and inadequate. Disappointing all round, Lafite presents few qualities -- if any at all -- to recommend it.
Museum Restaurant & Cafe
Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, Jalan Lembah Perdana, 50480, Kuala Lumpur - 03-2274 2020

Review: Being the only private museum in Malaysia, the museum restaurant offers exquisite Middle Eastern, Western and local cuisine. Wonderful, breath taking ambience facing the beautiful fountain garden. Situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, with complimentary parking, Museum Restaurant, Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia is a must go restaurant!.
1957 Bistro
No 1 Lorong Datuk Sulaiman 8 TamanTun - 034301030 inexpensive
The 1957 Bistro is located at 22, Jalan 25/70A Desa Sri Hartamas, for those of you who are not too familiar with the area it is just around the corner from Bukit Kiara. These days however the mere mention of 1957 is enough for the majority of Kuala Lumpur's dinning and drinking patrons to know exactly where the location is.\n\n\nBeing the first restaurant (and first outlet for that matter), to open in Sri Hartamas 1957 has become somewhat of a house hold name for the inhabitants of Sri Hartamas, Bukit kiara and the adjacent area's, to put it simply ‘its reputation proceeds it'. \n\nThe theme ‘1957’ was chosen by the owner (Mr. Michael Tan). He chose this name to remind Malaysians to be proud of their country’s independence, solidarity, and instill a sense of nostalgia.\nSet within lush landscape gardens, decorative items adorn the walls dating back to the 1950’s, patrons enjoy a wide range of R&B, jazz and easy listening. Thursdays through Saturdays, local solo acts perform here with varying styles.\n\nPleasant ambience and great music aside, the bistro serves a great selection of mouth watering dishes, from Canadian jumbo oysters, imported meats and fish to Japanese entrée’s.\n\nThe bar offers competitive prices with its happy hour beer’s, a wide range of cocktails, mocktails, specialties of the month, and not to mention over 100 labels of premium vintage Australian, French, Chilean, and South African wines. Prices range from the affordable to the extravagant depending on the palette and vintage of the bottle.\nCigars are also available with a number of top Cuban brands imported regularly. \n\nThe 1957 Bistro guarantees a fantastic dinning experience, great drinking location and superb music venue, with a theme like no other!. \n\n\n
