Matsuyama, city in Japan, on northwestern Shikoku Island, capital of Ehime Prefecture, near the port of Mitsuhama. Matsuyama is a center of petrochemical and soda manufacturing. Cotton cloth is produced here and is also a major export. Citrus fruits are grown nearby. Within the city park is a large 17th-century castle.
